Yoga for Releasing Emotional Blocks
Letting go, emotional freedom, healing
Beschreibung
When you are angry, stressed, anxious or even surprised, you automatically stiffen your jaw or fists. In addition, you unconsciously mobilize your hips to flee or fight, or you bend forward and lift your knees to protect your core/abdomen. Look at small children: When they're sad, angry or frustrated, they make themselves small, curl up and cry; adults do the same when they get bad news. Activating the hip flexors to assume a fetal position is an inherent reflex. No matter how real or serious a threat or perceived drama is, the tightening of the knees starts at the hips and as the muscles contract, they shorten. If the tension is never fully released, however, not only is muscular tension trapped, but also the deep, cognitive emotion. During the event that causes the hips to stiffen physically, our brain starts the information from the nervous system - the residue of which is the stored emotion that remains in the hips. In "Yoga for Releasing Emotional Blocks", we therefore release physical and emotional tension by working on the hips, as hidden or suppressed emotions can resurface through hip stretching. Through regular practice, we manage to get used to unpleasant situations and feelings or welcome them and meet them with acceptance, presence and softness.
